It’s the Season for Awards and Trophies!
Here at Robert Chapman Presentations, we can tell it’s that time of year, Prize-giving at Schools, Cricket, Golf and Tennis Clubs, Allotment Groups, Business Awards and many more. Every week brings another nomination process for a local, regional, national or international presentation, contest or competition.
Latest nomination lists include Man Booker, the criteria of which is changing to include books from other countries written in english; The Mercury Music Prize; European Athlete of the Year; MTV Europe Music Awards; Country Music Awards; International Tennis Hall of Fame.
How are the winners chosen? Is there voting by a Committee, a Members List, a Governing Board or is the decision down to a public vote? In recent years many more winners are decided by the votes from people ringing in, perhaps because it is considered to be a more democratic procedure.
Visitors to the York Food and Drink Festival this weekend can vote on the Festival awards for the best local producers. Kelso Christmas lights committee have put the choice of lights for the town centre to public vote! A simple choice of diamond white; electric blue and white; electric blue and multi-coloured! BBC Sports Personality of the Year – surely a shoe in for Andy Murray, closely followed by Mo and Froome? Again, voted on by the public, viewers watching the show in December.
One memory from ‘the old days’ of Awards nights – The School Speech Day – when winners were given a book token to spend in Hudsons book shop in Birmingham! Now many Schools present a wide variety of Trophies, Glass Awards, Cups, Shields, Plaques and Medals. Star and Achievement Awards are always popular to reward great efforts and success!
It always feels good to thank someone with a personalised gift – what about these Stars for someone special today – World Gratitude Day 2013! And thank you very much for reading this blogpost!
